  1. Can you buy a car in Seattle if you don't have a Seattle drivers license? I live in Texas but want to buy a car in Seattle to have when I visit relatives. Thanks for any input! If I can't then is it possible to drive around Seattle without a car?

  5. This was so helpful! Literally moving to Seattle in 11 days! Getting nervous, so you said this needs to be done within 30 days, or is that just what they prefer. Also when you get registered and new plates do you have to get your car insurance switched right away in Washington, (moving from MI) I know nothing 🤦🏻‍♀️. Alsooo, is you could make a video or even answer this, could you explain how the parking permit works for designated zones?, I want to park my car on the street outside my apartment to avoid crazy parking fees, but I don’t know much more than that. Thanks Rachel!

  9. Sorry if this was already specified by anyone below but I live in Puyallup, Wa. I looked at reviews for DMVs in the area and one had lots of comments about staff being racist. I went out of my way to travel to Federal Way which a lot of reviews and coworkers raved about. I got there early so I was one of the first in line. The staff were super nice which made the drive better. I had brought a bunch of stuff and the woman never asked for it. Just for my out of state license. I can't remember the fee but depending on where you live, my most recent tabs were over $300. Graham, Wa, one city over is literally hundreds cheaper. My car is a 2011 and I did not have to have an emissions test. So I only went to 2 places. Federal Way DMV and I went to a place in Puyallup (not the racist one but the monotone one) for my plates and tabs.

  14. In Colorado, you also have to show proof of insurance. That's so scary when you see others getting turned away! I always start getting nervous when I see that. Nobody wants to be that person!

  15. also, if you bought a car in a different state within 90 days and then move to Washington, you'll have to pay the difference in sales tax 🙁 And the sales tax is 10% so with that and tabs, if you live in Snohomish county, may cost you a solid 2,000

  19. Rachel not too sure how or where you got your things done but…
    1) All I needed to bring to get my WA license was my current out of state license. I didn’t need to bring anything else and I did this in downtown Seattle. All I needed to do was tell them my current address in Seattle.
    2) I didn’t need to get an emissions test at all…not too sure why you had to pay for that.
    3) The office I got my registration and license plates were in one place. I went to the U-district office and it took about and hour probably because I went early on a Saturday. No one checked my vehicle for any “check engine light”. No one even left the office to see my truck. Just had my title, license and out of state paperwork.
