Dude is coming from a good place. But I think he's missing some majors.
If you want to go to college for the sake of getting a job, the best majors/concentrations are (not in order):
Reply1. Engineering
– to become an engineer..duh.
2. Computer/Software Something
– developer, programmer, etc.
3. Pre-Med -> Medical School
– Physician
4. Nursing
– Self explanatory
5. Accounting
– companies & people will always need taxes filed (and that's just one field in accounting)
6. Math & Statistics combined
– almost every major industry requires quantitative analyses.
7. STEM education
– it'll get you a job no problems, granted not a high paying one
8. Pre-Dentistry -> Dental School
– Dentist
9. Agriculture
– people have to eat, and massive farms require agro-technical savvy people.

I watched you 4 years later vid you were right, things have changed in your production. Originally I thought you were younger millennial but from your vid it seems you're well in your 30s. Congrats for recovering and standing tall.

College should only be for STEM Majors.

I'm so glad I watched this video too. LOLOLOL you have a psych degree and you criticized chemistry. Shut your face dude "the only jobs worthwhile are premed degrees" lemme see how fast you can find a job with a bio degree in the industrial world

I'm a 21 year old college student, and I still have no idea what to do. I'm currently a biology major, and I love biology in general, but there's not a lot of money in it, unless, like you said, you go into the medical field (which I don't think is what I want to do). I'd like to do engineering, but I am extremely intimidated by higher level math and physics. I'm a very logically inclined person (I like logic puzzles, computers, thinking about measurements/specifications, how complex designs work, etc.), but for some reason I've always had some anxiety about math. Mostly a fear of getting things wrong, I guess. I'm just worried that engineering might be too much for me to handle.

I think Copyright Law is a upcoming good field. Every business need a lawyer like this, content creator and developer.

What about MIS ( Master in Information system )

My best friend changed her major from African American Gender Studies (same as mine) to Mechanical Engineering. She is now broke, homeless and is addicted to drugs. She couldn't find a job so she couldn't pay rent. The rest is history. Me on the other hand; I'm living a comfortable nice life with a job that pays in six figures. Morale of the story is to major in something with money like me.

I feel like the main takeaway from the debate pertaining to majors in college is: take the decision to pursue a degree very seriously. Analyze aspects like median salary, unemployment rates, etc. corresponding to what you initially want to major in. Possibly make a list containing things you either are passionate about or are interested in doing. Don't feel pressured into going into college straight out of high school (Although I did, many of my friends in engineering are 24-30 years old in my year while I'm 20; they're doing perfectly fine btw). Ignore the stigma of going to community college and seriously consider going to one for your first 2 years. Actively apply for stuff like grants and scholarships. List goes on, but the main point is to take the decision to go to college very seriously.

I am studying Architectural Technology, opinions on this degree? Is it worthwhile?
Replysam tarkeshi March 17, 2017 12:26 pm
Asset-Based Financial Engineering !!! Do you consider that as a subset of Engineering!!! cause its too complex!!

I do not think this video is relevant to alot of people. Not to say he is wrong from his experience but who you know no days plays a big part in getting jobs now days and I can attest to that from experience. There are so many factors that go into it and it's hard to say college is not worth it. I know alot of people with college who can not find work but are not willing to relocate. At some point people need to take responsibility and look in the mirror and decide if staying close to family or not leaving where you grew up is worth throwing away your hard work. As a person who sells cars and had a career in the military I can tell you that I've made more money than most of my peers who went to college. Also I have seen people with trades make more than those with a college degree.

I graduated in Spring of 2008. I lost my full time job 1 year later in the midst of the Economic melt down. I was in a lot of student loan debt and still am but managed to redeem myself and still working on it.

The best thing about Engineering or Computer science degree is that you can actually find a good job after you graduate (bachelor's degree) but that's also if you have done internships during college.

The most annoying things that I have heard is "I am not a math person" everyone can do anything just do it and don't give up like sheesh my teacher even believes in that bull crap

My wife is going for her masters in education to be a teacher. It is a requirement. It's expensive but we are doing our best to save up for it. In the end, it is why you are doing it. She is doing it to help the kids with their education and life skills so they can have a good start on what they really want to do. https://www.gofundme.com/karissa-college-tuition-help

So you're saying if i'm not doing engineering or medicine then i'm wasting my time at college? wow….you are an ignorant prick.
ReplyFred Otempong March 17, 2017 12:26 pm
#Deletethisvideo. Broken Matt Hardy reference. Engineering and Pre-med stuff aren't the only majors to study in college. What about politicians, lawyers, accountants, economists, financial analysts? Those jobs pay really well and you need a degree to get those jobs.
Replymaher elzaher March 17, 2017 12:26 pm
Im sorry but this video is a fail. There are so many things you could go to college for, including, geography, education, computer science, marketing, construction, accounting, medical assistance, zoologist, pharmacy technician, your experience of college is different than everyone else's. This was very biased hombre…
